Direct services to Alicante and Rome are being launched from Manchester Airport next June by Vueling.
The Spanish carrier, part of the International Airlines Group (IAG), will operate three flights a week to the first destination and two to Italy’s capital in addition to its existing service to Barcelona, which started in June this year. The routes will be operated by a 180-seat Airbus A320.
Ken O’Toole, Managing Director, Manchester Airport, said: “We’re delighted Vueling Airlines has chosen to expand its route network from Manchester. These additional services reinforce our status as the UK’s global gateway for the North of England.”
Gabriel Schmilovich, Network Planning, Scheduling and Slots Manager for Vueling, added: “With these additions, Vueling passengers from Manchester will have the opportunity to fly to more than 140 destinations across Europe connecting via our hubs in Barcelona and Rome Fiumicino.”
Vueling began in July 2004 with two aircraft and four routes. It now operates 365 routes to 155 cities in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, with a fleet of more than 100 aircraft. It has now carried more than 95m passengers. www.vueling.com/en www.manchesterairport.co.uk
