The first Intercity 125 train wrapped in Virgin Trains East Coast livery has entered service.
The new operator took over the franchise on 1 March but only a few of the trains had interim branding so as not to cause any disruption to services.
Work to wrap the Mark 3 fleet, known as 125s, was undertaken at Craigentinny depot, near Edinburgh Waverly Station by Stewart Signs and all 14 trains are expected to be completed by October.
Work is underway to ensure all train sets are in the new scheme by November.
David Horne, Managing Director at Virgin Trains East Coast, said: “This is a really proud moment for the business and we’re thrilled to see the Virgin logo in its full glory adorning one of our HST trains.
“These trains carry millions of our customers each year – from Inverness and Aberdeen to London. Customers up and down the country will recognise those six letters instantly and they symbolise the start of a journey we are making to transform this great business by bringing the Virgin sparkle to passengers’ experience. www.virgintrainseastcoast.com
