The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, will join the Chairman of the Airports Commission, Sir Howard Davies, at Stratford Old Town Hall on the afternoon of Wednesday 18 June for a Transport for London sponsored event “Shaping a growing London: the place of an airport”. It is free to attend although spaces are limited and early registration is recommended.
Starting from 12:00, and the two star speakers last on, it promises to be a fascinating afternoon.
Others on the platform include:
Sir Edward Lister, Chief of Staff and Deputy Mayor for Planning, Greater London Authority
John Burton, Development Director, Westfield
Dr Alain Thierstein, Professor for Urban Development, Munich University of Technology
Professor Tony Travers, London School of Economics
And representatives from each of the main airport scheme promoters
Over the course of the afternoon, speakers will consider how best to respond to the Capital's rapidly growing population that is set to reach 10m by 2030. Against a background of the debate about how and where to expand London's airport capacity, the conference will explore the role of an airport in generating and supporting growth and regeneration.
