At the end of June, Jonathan Hinkles will return to Loganair as managing director. An industry veteran, Hinkles joins the airline after four years at Virgin Atlantic, where he was vice-president of operations and crewing.
He replaces Stewart Adams, who left the Glasgow-based Scottish carrier at the end of April.
Loganair chairman David Harrison said: “We are extremely pleased that Jonathan is re-joining the company. During his previous time here he became well-known and respected by all our stakeholders.
“He joins at an important time for the airline as we continue to implement previously announced initiatives to ensure punctuality and customer service are returned fully to the levels our customers have rightly come to expect over many years.”
Hinkles said: “I previously spent almost four years with Loganair, and this feels like coming home.
“It’s an exciting and challenging time for the business. Loganair has a strong heritage and a loyal customer base and, as managing director, I plan to build on this going forward.”
In August 2015 the airline became part of a new regional airline group, Airline Investments Ltd, along with East Midlands-based airline bmi regional.
